What’s new on the shelves this month, plus a few other pieces worth a look.
Apothecary jars
This month’s arrivals include eleven Victorian and Edwardian-era ceramic apothecary and toiletry jars and lids, from historic English pharmacy makers: S. Maw & Sons, S. Maw & Thompson, John Gosnell & Co, Calvert’s Carbolic, Lorimer & Co, and W. Woods. Most were bought second-hand and cleaned up rather than made new. Condition is noted honestly on each listing — chips, hairline cracks, and old repairs are common on pieces this age. Several of the standalone lids are a good size for a printer’s-tray collection. The standout piece is a silver-plated vanity set — mirror, brush and comb — in its original silk-lined box, with a note from the family it belonged to dated 1961. The mirror is missing and the comb has a broken tooth; both are noted on the listing.
Jewellery
Jewellery has been the busiest category this month — more than thirty new pieces, with more still on the way. Highlights include the Elaine woven bracelet range in agate, rose quartz, and howlite; the Anni bracelet line in hematite and glass; a set of spiral bracelets, including one with freshwater pearls; and a wide selection of sunglasses chains in different bead colours. There are also new bangles in copper and silkwood, new necklaces and pendants, and a few brooches shaped like a cat, an elephant, and a spider. See the full Jewellery range.
Also worth highlighting this month
Four glass mosaic portraits from Rhodi-Anne Buys, each handmade and one-of-a-kind. Two new hand-stitched leather mannequins from Anton’s workshop, both dressed in corsets (one, two), or get in touch and order a custom leather top hat.
