We want you to be happy with what you buy from The Old Post Office. This policy explains how returns, exchanges and refunds work for orders placed at theoldpostoffice.co.za, and applies alongside your rights under South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
One-of-a-Kind and Handmade Items
Many of our products — vintage and antique pieces, hand-carved olive wood, hand-stitched leatherwork and glass mosaic pieces — are one-of-a-kind or handmade. We describe and photograph each item as accurately as we can; please note that natural variation, patina, or small imperfections are part of the character of these pieces rather than defects. Because these items are unique, we are not able to offer ‘change of mind’ returns or exchanges on one-of-a-kind pieces once they have been collected or delivered.
Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items
If an item arrives damaged, is faulty, or is not what you ordered, please contact us within 7 days of collection or delivery at postmaster@theoldpostoffice.co.za or 076 632 2819, with your order number and photos of the item. We will arrange a repair, replacement (where possible) or refund, in line with your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
Free Range Eggs
Because eggs are perishable and collected to order, we are not able to accept returns on eggs once collected, except where they are faulty on collection — please check your order before you leave and let us know immediately if there is a problem.
How Refunds Are Processed
Where a refund is agreed, we will refund you using the same method you paid with — or, if you paid in person, by EFT to your bank account — usually within 7 business days of the refund being agreed.
Return Shipping
If an item needs to come back to us for a valid reason under this policy (for example, it is faulty), we will let you know whether to bring it to us in person or arrange a courier, and who covers that cost, when we confirm the return.
