Description
100 grams of natural undyed Alapaca fleece (medium fawn) from the legs and neck. The fleece has been washed and carded, and then wrapped into “bumps”.
Washing and carding and then wrapping it into “bumps” typically involves several steps:
Washing:
- Start by sorting the fleece, removing any large vegetable matter or debris.
- Submerge the fleece in the water with a mild detergent specifically designed for washing wool and gently agitate it to remove dirt and grease.
- Rinse the fleece thoroughly in clean water until the water runs clear.
- Carefully squeeze out excess water, being gentle to avoid felting or matting the fibers.
- Lay the washed fleece out to dry on clean towels or a drying rack, away from direct sunlight.
Carding:
- Once the fleece is dry, carding is the next step. Carding helps align the fibers and remove any remaining debris.
Wrapping into “Bumps”:
- To create “bumps,” or manageable portions of the fiber for spinning or storage, the carded fleece is divided and rolled.
- The resulting bumps of carded alpaca fleece are now ready for spinning into yarn or for storage until further use in crafting projects.
